Pastor Rachel is a born and raised United Methodist. Being a pastor’s kid, she grew up on the Hawaiian island of Oahu and in Upland, CA. She was a United Methodist missionary for 4 years. In 2011, she served as a US-2 young adult missionary through the UMC’s General Board of Global Ministries. For 2 years, she served in Miami, FL, as a legal aid working alongside Haitian refugees seeking safety here in the United States. In 2013, she moved to New York City to continue working as a UMC missionary at the General Board of Global Ministries headquarters. There, she trained and worked with young adults from across the globe as they themselves prepared to serve as young adult missionaries in countries across the world.
After missionary work, Pastor Rachel attended Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., and received her Master’s of Divinity in 2018 with an emphasis in Art and Faith. She served as a provisional Elder of the UMC at Ojai United Methodist Church from 2018-2020, was ordained in full connection of the UMC in June 2020, and began serving at St. Paul’s UMC in July 2020.
